From high up in the sky to below our very feet
there are covers for all purposes under heaven
We might sleep each night with nothing more than a sheet
or in winter under blankets and quilts numbering seven
Water comes as snow, sleet, ice, or rain but always in showers or sheets
Clothes come in patterns and solids covering skin like a book cover
Air covers grass and trees
while they cover the dirt
Dirt then in turn covers their roots and bugs
with water seeping deep
from the sky breaking forth
Covers are everywhere
something that is covered is always multiple layers deep
if you look hard enough there is nothing in the universe that is truly naked
